Donation to The Mary Chapman School, a School for Deaf Children in Myanmar

The Masterpiece Group, through its subsidiary in Myanmar, Lan Thit Masterpiece Ltd. which provides various call center services and BPO services in the official language of Myanmar to companies in Myanmar (Headquarters: Yangon City, Managing Director: Hitoshi Kitazawa), has made a donation to The Mary Chapman School, a school for deaf children in Myanmar. (Head Office: Yangon City, Managing Director: Hitoshi Kitazawa), a subsidiary in Myanmar that provides various call center and BPO services in the Myanmar language, made a donation to The MaryChapman School (Yangon City), a school for hearing-impaired children in Myanmar.

The MaryChapman School was established in 1918 by Ms. Mary Chapman, an Englishwoman, to educate and train teachers for hearing-impaired children in Myanmar. Today, the school supports a total of 357 deaf and hard-of-hearing students from 12 ethnic groups, ranging from children over the age of six to adults who have no place to work after completing their studies.

Since the school is managed by a Christian church, it cannot receive any subsidy from the Myanmar government, but it is contributing to the welfare of Myanmar by accepting many deaf children from Myanmar, regardless of their religion or ethnicity. The Masterpiece Group sympathizes with these activities of the school and has made a donation.

Even after graduating from the school, there is a high risk of violence outside the school, especially for women, due to their hearing impairment, and the school is only able to provide employment opportunities in the beauty salon that is run on campus. In the future, we hope to provide a pathway for the students to work at the Masterpiece Group’s Myanmar subsidiary to help expand their options after graduation. Masterpiece Group will continue to actively support the school in other ways than through donations.
